DENVER (CBS4) ― Sunny skies gave way to a few storms Friday.  However, those that developed were severe, especially one that went directly over Denver late in the afternoon.

Flooding rains with deafening thunder and brilliant lightning drenched Denver.  But the storm moved through quickly and within a half hour, Denver was again under sunny skies.

That storm remained powerful and cut a swath to the eastern border bringing severe weather warnings all the way.

Saturday and Sunday could see more of the same.  Scattered storms that will have some running for cover while others see nothing but cloudy skies.

Temperatures stay in the low to mid 80s for the weekend.  Then as we get into next week we start to dry out and really warm up - mid 90s by mid week!
