It seems as though the rest of the country had a summer just like Colorado.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), summer 2009 will go down as the 34th coolest on record.
Meteorological summer runs from June to August. This year the average June through August temperature for the U.S. as a whole was below average. The average U.S. temperature was 71.7 degrees. That was about 0.4 degrees below the 20th Century average. Last year's average was 72.7.
Precipitation was more of an up and down affair.
While Colorado's precipitation was above normal for most of the summer, places like Arizona, South Carolina and Georgia were high and dry. Arizona had its 3rd driest summer on record and South Carolina and Georgia had their 6th driest on record.
