DENVER (CBS4) ― What's the weather like in July?

The 30-day outlook from the National Climate Prediction Center for the month of July has Denver and all of Colorado as Normal. If that's the case, don't look for that daily dose of afternoon thunderstorms to go away any time soon.

While June was the month for the most severe storms on average, July has more thunderstorms in general than any other month of the year on average.

In a normal July Denver averages a thunderstorm about every third day.

Hailstorms are also a big part of the weather picture in July. The worst hail storm on record in Denver happened on July 11, 1990. This storm caused millions of dollars in damage with baseball to softball sized hailstones.

July temperatures can really heat up as well. While the average high is around 88 degrees, on July 20, 2005, the afternoon high zoomed up to 105 degrees. That tied Aug. 8, 1878, as the hottest temperature ever in Denver.
