Fast-moving storms left four Denver apartments under 4 feet of water, with residents across northeastern Colorado bracing for more rains.
The American Red Cross says it has put a local shelter on standby for people displaced from the apartment flood. No injuries have been reported, but the four units are underwater and an additional 12 units are without power after heavy thunderstorms Thursday afternoon.
Denver Public Works says several streets have been flooded.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for most of northeastern Colorado until 8 p.m.
90 Degree Recordings In Denver
Written by Jennifer Zeppelin
After a relatively mild start to June, the 90s have arrived. Over the past few years there have been plenty of heat waves in June. The most 90 degree days ever recorded was June 2006 with 19 days.
As far as the rest of the season May through September, the No. 1 spot for total 90 degree days over that 5 month period was 61 in 2000. Out of the top 10 total seasonal 90 degree days 6 of those years occurred over the last 8 years.
Just last year we broke a 100 year old record for the most days in a row with temperatures 90 degrees or more. Between July 13 and Aug. 5 Denver recorded 24 consecutive 90 degree days, breaking at 1901 record of 18.
