The new 30 and 90 day climate outlook is out and doesn't show any dramatic changes in our weather pattern.
The outlook for January shows all of eastern Colorado, including Denver, to be slightly warmer for temperatures and close to average for Western Colorado and the mountains. That my warm your heart because January is one of our colder months on average.
The precipitation prediction for January shows all the state to be average in snowfall. January is Denver's fifth snowiest month with an average of 7.7 inches of snow.
In the 90 day outlook for January, February and March, most of the state should be close to average for temperatures. Again January and February are typically our coldest months, so nothing unusual there. Some areas of southern Colorado may be slightly warmer than normal.
Precipitation should also be close to average or normal. This might bode well for more moisture in March, which is Denver's snowiest month on average. The only area that might be on the dry side from January through March might be extreme Southwest Colorado, which may be slightly below normal.
