Rain in Denver (File)

We certainly didn't break any records when it comes to rainfall in August but what we did receive was beneficial.
The month finished with 1.14 inches, which was .68 inches below normal.
Along with the rain came some stormy conditions throughout the month. The National Weather Service says that observers at Denver International Airport tracked 11 thunderstorms, which is three above normal for August.
Due to the passage of several fronts during the month temperatures were cooler than normal. The average temperature was 70.4 degrees, 1.3 degrees below normal.
Even though temperatures were down overall, Denver did record nine 90-degree days, the most seen this summer.
On Aug. 23 Denver tied a record high with 98 degrees, the hottest temperature recorded in 2009.
