6 Tornadoes Touchdown On Colo. Plains, No Damage

ARRIBA, Colo. (AP) ― Thunderstorms moving across the eastern Colorado plains spawned at least six short-lived tornadoes, mostly near towns along Interstate 70, that caused no apparent damage.

The National Weather Service says two tornadoes were reported Friday around noon, 5 miles north of Arriba, which is about 90 miles southeast of Denver along the I-70 corridor.

Tornadoes also touched down at 6:30 p.m., 20 miles northeast of Strasburg; 7 p.m., 11 miles northeast of Deer Trail and 7:30 p.m., 2 miles northwest of Genoa, which is east of Limon. Another tornado touched down at about 6 p.m., 18 miles southwest of Fort Morgan.

The weather service's Carl Burroughs says the reports of funnel clouds touching the ground came from storm chasers, sheriff's deputies, and county officials.
