Fire Danger Worsens In Colorado
DENVER (AP) ―
Firefighters say the danger of wildfires is worsening in Colorado, Wyoming and western South Dakota.
The Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center on Thursday raised its preparedness from Level 2 to Level 3. Level 5 is the highest.
The center coordinates firefighting in Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.
Police in Basalt said this week that illegal fireworks may have started a small wildfire that briefly threatened two homes.
The wind-driven fire broke out Tuesday in dry grass and got to within 10 feet of one home before it was contained.
There were no reports of injury or damage.
