Damage From Pueblo Hail Storm Estimated At $106M

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) ― Insurance officials say a hailstorm in Pueblo last week caused nearly $106 million in insured losses.

Carole Walker of the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association said Tuesday that residents submitted about 15,800 claims for damage to cars and 6,200 claims for damage to houses.

The storm hit July 29.

A July 20 hail and wind storm in the Denver area caused an estimated $350 million in insured damage, and a series of storms along the Front Range in early June caused an estimated $161 million in damage.

Walker says has been the most costly summer for storms since 1990, when a single hail storm caused $625 million in damage.
