Former Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa is no stranger to controversy or the limelight. But in a recent picture of him in November 2009, he appears noticeably lighter than he did just a few months before at an event in May 2009.
The drastic change in Sosa's skin color has prompted a lot of speculation and even comparisons to late pop king Michael Jackson, whose complexion grew visibly lighter over his career.
A former Chicago Cubs employee who is still friends with Sosa says there's no way he bleached his skin. She says a skin rejuvenation process is the cause of the skin lightening.
"He is in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin," Rebecca Polihronis,
told the Chicago Tribune. "The picture is deceiving. He said, 'If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture.'
"People who saw him in person did not react the same way. He can't believe it is such a big deal."
