Speaking of cleaning, a new study of thousands of married couples found that may be one of the keys to getting the sparks flying in the bedroom, CBS WCBS-TV reports.
The study found that the more housework you do, the more likely you are to have sex with your spouse.
It turns out that Mr. Mom may actually be Mr. Sexy. A study in the Journal of Family Issues looked at nearly 7,000 married couples and found that the more housework the couple does, the more sex they have.
Michael Kaplan just celebrated 14 years of marriage, and he and says it works.
"When you show your wife that you are a partner in taking care of the home, emotionally it brings you two closer together and that just leads to more intimacy," Kaplan said.
The study defined housework as nine different chores ranging from cleaning and cooking to paying bills. It found wives in the study spent 42 hours a week on housework, compared to 23 hours for husbands.
Parenting.com surveyed 1,300 mothers on their biggest turns-ons, and getting Dad to chip in around the house ranked in the top three.
"We were surprised to find that wine actually scored lower than husbands doing chores," Rachel Fishman Fedderman, from Parenting.com, said. "A glass of wine is relaxing but your husband helping you around the house is even more relaxing."
CBS 2 spoke to some local couples.
Ingrid Smith says her husband has got it down.
"He takes out the trash, cleans up after himself in the kitchen, does his own dishes, helps me with the kids, changes diapers," Smith says.
Adam Strolin-Goltzman is only six-months-old, but his mom says she's going to start a special housework chart for dad.
"We're actually going to start a behavior chart for him, and every chore he gets, he gets a little reward at the end," Jessica Strolin-Goltzman says.
Dad had no idea that housework could pay off in the bedroom, but he's all for it.
"I did not know that, but I could very easily see how that could be true," Jessica's husband, Daniel, says. "I know chores are always appreciated."
So what does he plan on doing when he gets home?
"I am going to clean the house thoroughly," he said.
The study also found couples reported having sex about 1.6 times each week.
