Retailer: Obama Goodies Are Going Fast

 Transition To A New Government

 Campaign '08 Complete Coverage
BALTIMORE (CBS) ―

Just five days from the inauguration and Obama fever is reaching a fever pitch. You can buy just about anything with the likeness of the President-elect.

CBS station WJZ-TV reports a lot of folks are forking over their dollars and business owners in Baltimore are enjoying "change" they can believe in.

The register is ringing at Glauber's Chocolates in Lutherville. Milk chocolate Barack Obama pops and box candies are flying off the shelves. Glauber's is selling more than 1,200 a day.

"They're 1.4 ounces. The head is about two inches by three inches. The mold maker did an excellent job. It really is a good likeness of Obama," said Bill Buppert, spokesperson for Ruxton Chocolates, the parent company of Glauber's Chocolates.

The chocolate treats are being shipped all over the country. Glauber's says if demand continues they'll continue to sell the Obama candies past Inauguration Day.

"It's like hotcakes. We can barely make them fast enough right now. I think a lot of people are excited about this time and that's what's driving the fascination with them," said Buppert.

The 44th president has created a merchandising frenzy in Baltimore. From T-shirts to candy to coffee, Zeke's Barack blend pays tribute to Obama's heritage.

"We made a coffee blend in tribute to Barack Obama's heritage. We blended beans from Kenya, Sumatra and Kona. He went to school in Indonesia, his father's from Kenya and his grandmother lived in Kona and he lived in Hawaii for years," said Thomas Rhodes of Zeke's Coffee.

Meanwhile, Goldberg's Kosher Bagels is offering a customer bailout with ten percent off during January.
