Colorado Reporter Punched While Covering Collision

ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) ― A southern Colorado newspaper reporter has told deputies he was punched and shoved while covering a minor collision between a trailer and an excursion train.

Larry Winget, a reporter for the Alamosa Valley Courier and the Conejos County Citizen, told Conejos County sheriff's investigators he was accosted by a man he believes was an employee of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad on June 10.

Officials of the railroad and the sheriff's department didn't immediately return calls from The Associated Press on Tuesday.

No one was reported injured in the collision between the train and a trailer towed by a pickup on Colorado 17 on Cumbres Pass.

The patrol cited the pickup driver for improper driving because the train had the right of way.
