Lone Tree Bowler Scores At Regional Tournament

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4) ― Amy Stolz knows a thing or two about bowling, she earned her way through college by winning bowling tournaments and has just earned a spot in bowling history.

Stolz just recently became the first woman to win a professional bowlers association regional event, the Broomfield Open.

"It was against all the men, so it was a really fun thing to do," Stolz said as she offered CBS4 anchor Brooke Wagner a bowling lesson.

Columbia Bowling Balls recently signed on as Stolz's sponsor. "When I was five I wanted to be a pro bowler, it came true," Stolz said, "I'm really, really, really excited."
Stolz has been bowling since she was four years old. Now at 28, she owns Lone Rocky Mountain Bowling Supply at the Brunswick Zone in Lone Tree.

Her husband is her business partner and her three year old son Rocco is one of her favorite bowling partners.

"The great thing is families can do it," she said. "You don't have to be great to bowl, you can come in here and have a great time with your family."

Stolz also coaches young bowlers, including sharing the secret of her success, practice and focus.

"I think about breathing, staying slow, and just looking at my mark and hitting it," she said.

And just how often does Stolz count on bowling a strike? "Hopefully at least six times during the game."
