Team Canada is interested in Joe Sakic for their national hockey team that would compete in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
Sakic is one of 46 hockey players invited to the Canada Hockey orientation camp next month. Sakic, who turns 40 next week, is the oldest player invited.
Executive Director Steve Yzerman says the 23-man team won't necessarily be chosen from those attending the camp but every member of the 2002 and 2006 Olympic teams came from similar camps.
Colorado Avalanche Winger Ryan Smyth was also invited.
