Lubick Headlines 2008 Colorado Hall Of Fame Class

DENVER (AP) ― Former Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick and recently retired Denver Broncos receiver Rod Smith are among the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame's six-person class.

The selection committee on Monday also elected:

--Former Colorado Rockies chairman Jerry McMorris,

--Former NHL star and longtime Colorado hockey figure Ralph Backstrom

--Lt. Col. John Mosley, an ex-Colorado A&M (Colorado State) standout football player and wrestler as well as a member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II

--Laurice Hunter, the trailblazing volleyball coach at Evergreen High School.

They will be inducted on April 14.

Lubick coached the Rams from 1993-2007, compiling a 108-74 record and leading the program to nine bowl berths and six conference championships.

Smith set several NFL receiving records for an undrafted player and was forced into retirement by a bad hip last summer, retiring with team records for career receptions, yards receiving, touchdown catches and total touchdowns.
