Former CU Player Arrested On DUI Charge

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) ― A former University of Colorado linebacker appeared in court this week to face drunken driving charges for his arrest six days before he was drafted by the Detroit Lions this year.

Police said Jordon Dizon, 22, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.097 when he was arrested April 20. The legal limit in Colorado is 0.08.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported Dizon's arrest this week. He told the newspaper during a phone interview he regrets what happened and said he knows the arrest reflects badly on him.

"I was very polite to the officer. I did everything he asked me to and I acted like a man," Dizon told the newspaper. "It's a bad situation and I'm sorry that it happened.

Dizon was cited for drunken driving, failure to provide insurance, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He's due in court in Boulder on Aug. 18 after his attorney rescheduled an appearance Monday.

Dizon has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police said in a report that Dizon parked his car facing south on a northbound street at 2 a.m. on April 20. Police said he told them he was picking up a friend.

Dizon agreed to roadside sobriety tests after the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, according to the report.

The Lions picked Dizon in the second round of the NFL draft.
