DENVER (AP) ―
Boulder resident Justin Mock won the annual Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon for the second straight year, in an event that drew the largest number of participants in the race's three-year history.
The 26-year-old finished the 26.2-mile race in 2:43.27, while Tristan Mitchell, 22, finished in 2:47.46 to take second place.
Lisa Marie Goldsmith, 43 of Nederland, won the women's race with a time of 3:12.51 and Peggy Panzer, 46 of Aurora, took second place, finishing in 3:17.45.
Event spokeswoman Liz Easterly says 5,216 participated in the various races Sunday. She says that's the largest number of participants since the event started in 2006. The event drew 4,654 people last year.
The marathon started in Denver's City Park, extended to Lakewood, and circled back to City Park.
