Tolan Wins First Professional Event

FARMINGTON, NM (CBS4) ―
Former University of Colorado golfer turned Pro Golfer Derek Tolan won the San Juan Open, notching his first professional win. Tolan set the tournament record for most strokes under par finishing at 24-under at the San Juan Country Club in Farmington, NM. The win was a come from behind effort after triple a triple bogey on No. 7.
Tolan is the youngest person to ever play in the U.S. Open at age 16. Now at 23 Tolan aspires to join the PGA Tour. Derek collected his oversized $15,000 check on the San Juan Country Club pavillion, and hardly seemed to care that his name was misspelled -- reading Derek Toland.
