The banged-up Colorado Rockies got outfielder Dexter Fowler back Wednesday.
The team released the following details about the move:
Fowler, 23, owns a .270 (102-for-378) batting average with 4 home runs and 33 RBI in 113 games for the Rockies this season. He sustained a bruised right knee when he fouled a ball off his leg during his final plate appearance in the 14th inning on August 24.
Fowler currently leads all National League rookies in doubles (27), walks (63) and stolen bases (26). Despite missing the club's final six games in August, he finished among the rookie leaders in the following categories: Batting avg. (2nd-.361), on-base pct. (1st-.458), slugging pct. (1st-.623) and triples (1st-5).
Fowler missed a total of 14 games, and the club went 8-6 while he was on the disabled list. He appeared in three games for the Tulsa Drillers on a rehab assignment from September 5-7, going 4-for-10 (.400) with 2 doubles, 3 walks and 3 RBI. Fowler went 4-for-5 in his last game on Monday. The switch-hitter has made 93 starts in center field, including 89 starts at the leadoff spot.
