Nuggets' Camby Wins NBA Defensive Player Award

Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award Friday.
Camby averaged a league-best 3.3 blocks to go with 11.7 rebounds, 11.2 points and a career-best 3.2 assists this season. He recorded a career-best 32 games with double figures in scoring and rebounds and led all centers with 1.24 steals per game.
Camby received 431 points, including 70 first-place votes, from a panel of 130 sportswriters and broadcasters. San Antonio's Bruce Bowen finished second with 206 points and his teammate Tim Duncan finished third with 158 points.
The Spurs and Nuggets play Game 3 of their first-round playoff series Saturday night in Denver.
