Boulder Hosts Fringe Festival
DENVER (CBS4) ―
One of Boulder's most unusual festivals is underway, it's the ten day Fringe Festival.
More than 70 artists will use 14 venues until August 27 to show off all sorts of acts. One performer, Ryan Eggensperger stopped by CBS4 Weekend Morning News to talk about the event with anchors Arturo Santiago and Jennifer Zepellin.
Since he is a performer, he actually appeared in character as "Eddy the Eskimo" who hosts the nightly talk show at the festival.
"It's called 'The Daily Crab'. Every night I get to speak with artists who have different shows who are playing in the festival," he said.
"They get to perform and promote their shows and promote their shows. We do an interview and we get to learn more about each other."
Eddy did talk about some of the other performers. "There is a man named John Leo who is doing a called 'Numbers Up', he's a clown. We have a site-specific performance in Boulder Creek called 'The Water'. We also have a man named Omar who is from Poland doing a show called 'True Theater Critic'."
But Eddy really had to give himself kudos. "My show is very fun mostly because everybody gets together at the end of the day. We gather together and hear about each other's show and there is a lot of audience participation. You get to hear about a lot of other shows."
The shows do run from family-friendly to risque but they are rated with a traditional system so audience members can choose the appropriate material.
Some shows are free, others cost up to $15.
