Denver Police Limit Cruising After 'Disturbance'

DENVER (CBS4) ― Denver police broke up the annual Cinco de Mayo cruising on Federal Blvd. Sunday after a disturbance during the partying.

Crowds got out of control near Federal and 2nd Avenue, police said.

Some witnesses said police were partly to blame. One played cell phone video for CBS4 that appears to show a Mexican flag on the ground.

"This police officer, a Denver police officer, threw it on the floor," said one witness. "I have his business card I have everything, you know what I'm saying."

Police limited cruising to areas north of 6th Avenue along Federal Sunday night.

Officers said they wrote 164 violations Saturday night and made 119 arrests.
