Arvada-Based Group Comes To Aid Of Cyclone Victims

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) ― A Colorado-based relief organization is coming to the aid of victims of last weekend's cyclone.

Global Refuge International of Arvada has been operating along the border with Myanmar and Thailand since 2001. It provides humanitarian aid and hosts medical clinics. It is now working to get aid to Burmese doctors.

"Right now we have five Burmese doctors in Burma assessing the situation and we have a shipment currently leaving Connecticut right now going to Holland and then on to Bangkok full 150,000 to 400,000 medical supplies," Kristen Heil with Global Relief International said.

The group has been granted visas for 14 days. The Arvada team hopes the repressive government will extend them.
