The idea of two for one tickets is an idea that comes and goes. It usually lasts for only a few days and the choices of shows and performances are often pretty thin. That's what Visit Denver wants to change.

The group, formerly known as the Convention and Visitors Bureau, has built a website to handle a new idea that has got a number of Denver area arts groups excited -- two for one deal that change every week.

There are some 300 plus arts and cultural groups in the metro area. Visit Denver would like to get as many of them on board as possible, all in the hopes that a wide diversity of deals are offered to the widest possible variety of theaters, music venues, restaurants, museums and galleries. By expanding the number of organizations offering deals, the 2-for-1 burden is shared across the table, not just by one or two organizations.

Jayne Buck, of Visit Denver, told me that there are any number of groups already on board.

"We have the Denver Center Theatre Company and Swallow Hill Music. Phamaly is also involved as is Museo de las Americas, Curious Theatre, Vintage Theatre and more. We're looking for diversity across the board here -- and the chance to offer Denver email alerts to new and different places each and every week."

And, since the possibilites and places offering the deal will be changing weekly, you'll want to sign up for the email updates, just to keep your hand in the mix.

This is a great idea to promote Denver Arts -- and -- more importantly, to give people a chance to go off the beaten path to some theaters and venues that don't normally get the traffic. At these prices, you can try anything.
