Harry And David Issues Recall Of Certain Beans
DENVER (AP) ―
The Harry and David gift products company is recalling espresso beans sold in 8-ounce clear plastic bags because they contain milk as an undeclared ingredient.
Medford, Oregon-based Harry and David says the bags have a "Best If Used By" date after August 28th, 2005, and would have been sold before April 5th, 2008.
Products that contain soy milk are not affected by the recall.
The Food and Drug Administration says anyone who is allergic to milk and who consumes the beans can experience a serious, even life-threatening, reaction.
Colorado health officials say six Harry and David retail stores in the state may have carried the beans.
The affected stores are located in Aurora, Broomfield, Castle Rock, Lakewood, Loveland and Silverthorne.
Consumers with questions about the espresso beans can call 1-800-233-1101.
