AFL-CIO Welcomes Choice Of Denver For 2008 DNC

DENVER (AP) ― A major labor group is welcoming the choice of Denver as the Democratic Party's 2008 convention site.

Steve Adams, president of the Colorado AFL-CIO said it is the best thing that could ever happen to the city of Denver, the state of Colorado, and the surrounding Rocky Mountain region.

Adams said it demonstrates Colorado is showing leadership in turning an area that was once a Republican stronghold into a Democratic stronghold.

He said the party's strong performance in the past two elections convinced the national leadership to come to Denver.
