Ritter, Schwarzenegger Team Up On New Energy Plan

DENVER (AP) ― Gov. Bill Ritter is teaming up with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on a new energy plan.

Schwarzenegger couldn't make it to Denver, but he joined the conference live via satellite.

The two governors kicked off the new eco-driving campaign. It's an effort to help save drivers money at the pump, reduce fuel used and cut carbon emissions.

They're asking motorists to follow easy driving tips, like avoiding rapid starts and stops, using cruise control and reduce idling.

"Part of this is to demonstrate that a Republican governor and a Democratic governor really do together understand the power of this," Ritter said.

Colorado and California are the first two states to support the eco-driving campaign.
