Residents Report Brushes With 3 Mountain Lions

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) ― Division of Wildlife officials have killed two mountain lions this week that strayed into Durango city limits in southwestern Colorado.

On Saturday, wildlife officials euthanized a mountain lion found eating a cat behind a shed in a family's yard.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Chris Brinkley reported a mountain lion to wildlife officials behind his home. That animal also was killed.

Wildlife officials said both were young female lions.

Earlier Wednesday, wildlife officials killed a lion in Cortez that jumped on a lawnmower as a 14-year-old boy was cutting the lawn, about 40 miles southwest of Durango.
