. Below lies CBS4's Sept. 9 report. AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - CBS4 viewers have come together to pay it forward to the parents of a 3-year-old boy killed last week in a hit and run crash in Aurora. Marten Kudlis will be buried Wednesday at Fairmount Cemetery.
CBS4 matched viewer donations of $1,000 to help make sure Marten's memorial is what his parents want.
The boy's parents speak three different languages, but none of of them has the appropriate phrase for their heartache.
Marten's mother can't get the image of the damaged ice cream store from her mind. That's where her young son was killed last Thursday evening.
"She hasn't spoke yet, she just can't do it," said Marat Kudlis, the boy's father. "To have Marten for a short time, I want him back, but the three years with my son was the most precious thing."
Marten was the couple's only child. They came to Colorado first from Eastern Europe, then from the East Coast searching for a better and safer life in the West.
"This is the most wonderful place to raise your kids and I still feel that way, I still feel that way," Marat said.
A fund to help the Kudlis family has been set up. Donations can be made at Bank of the West locations.
