Two unemployed CBS4 viewers asked CBS4 to pay it forward with a $1,000 check to a non-profit employment agency.
The Lynotts found comfort and hope in Care Placement Service of Denver, which accepts anyone and charges them nothing as they look for jobs. The hope is that once they do find a job, they will donate something to someone else looking for employment.
It's a project that is near and dear to the founder Susan Lyon's heart.
"I wanted to make sure good people didn't go through bad situations alone," Lyon said.
Every day, those with little experience or years of experience trudge into Care Placement Service.
They are put to work volunteering in the office as they wait and look for jobs.
The thought is that volunteer work boosts their self esteem and gives them current experience to list on their resume.
Mindy Lynott told CBS4 getting out of the house and being productive has boosted her spirits while being unemployed.
"When you can't pay the rent or you're just scraping by, you really are down on yourself," she said.
Lynott's husband Allen, trained as a Web designer, volunteers with Care as well.
He said his assurance that he'll find a new job comes "without a shadow of a doubt."
Lyon sums up her philosophy like this: "They need to be encouraged and lifted up, to know you are not hopeless, you are a valuable individual."
The check from CBS4 will help Care offer resume writing seminars to the more than 100 clients of Care who are currently anxious for work.
