School Bus & Truck Collide, Injuries Minor

YUMA, Colo. (AP) ― The Colorado State Patrol says a school bus driver and four students suffered bumps and bruises when their 14-passenger bus collided with a tractor-trailer rig outside Yuma. Yuma District Hospital spokeswoman Lynda Loppe said the bus driver and one child were admitted for observation as a precaution.

The patrol says eight other children and the truck driver were unhurt in the Thursday morning collision.

The patrol says the truck was making a left turn when it was rear-ended by the bus.

Yuma School District 1 Superintendent Dennis Veal says the students ranged from 5 to 15 years old. He says the driver had to be extricated from the wreckage despite having only minor injuries.

Yuma is 115 miles northeast of Denver.
