YouReport: A User's Guide
YouReports By Cell Phone
Want to send in a YouReport using your cell phone or mobile device?
1. Use your phone's Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) to e-mail attachments to
youreport@cbs4denver.com. Call your service provider for instructions for your own phone.
2. Type in a descriptive subject line (i.e., "blizzard" for blizzard footage) to help CBS4 editors find your material.
3. Tell us about your material in the "Description" area and include a phone number you can be reached at and your full name.
YouReport Upload Process If you're not sure about how to get going with uploading your images and video to cbs4denver.com, here are some explainers.
1. In order to upload files, make comments on and rate other YouReport account holders' video clips and images, you need to set up an account on YouReport. When you first get to the page, you'll see a box in the top right that says:
Share your reports here
Sign Up
Click "Sign Up" and then follow the link for "Create an account to join the community."
Once you have created an account you will receive an email with a link you need to click on so your account can become active.
2. Once you've got an account, you can begin uploading files. Once you are signed in, you will see an "Upload" button on the top right corner of the page that includes the message "Share your reports here." When you click Upload you are asked to provide details about the file or files you are uploading.
Please be as descriptive as possible and be sure to include the date and location where the image or video was taken. You should also select what type of report it is (news, weather, sports or a Pay it 4ward video).
As explained on the next screen, you can now upload up to 5 files, all of which must not exceed 20 MB. The files can be any of the following formats:
.3g2, .3gp, .aac, .aif, .aiff, .asf, .avi, .bmp, .divx, .dv, .flv, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .m1v, .m4a, .mov, .mp3, .mp4, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv, .png, .qt, .tif, .wav, .wma, .wmv, .xvid
If your video clip or image is in one of these formats, click "browse" and then select the file from the folder it is located in on your computer in the dialogue window. If you have questions about how to do this part, please ask an information technology specialist at your office (or a friend or family member who is more in the know about computer issues.) If you're still stuck, please contact us at
website@cbs4denver.com and we'll do our best to help you.
After you've checked the box that says you accept the official terms and conditions, you click "Upload." The file will then be posted on the site after it is approved by CBS4 staff.
3. After you have become a YouReport member, you can rate other YouReports and add your comments. Just click on how many stars out of 5 you think the clip deserves at the top or add comments in the "Add Your Comment" field below. The ratings you give and the comments you make will be visible to everyone who visits the YouReports pages immediately afterwards, so please keep your comments clean and related to the clip or image.
