Woman Cited For Letting Wolf Hybrids Run Loose
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) ―
A landowner has been cited in Jefferson County after a small group of wolf hybrid dogs was found running loose at a home in the foothills.
Jacki Kelley with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said five dogs were seized on Monday at a home on Gross Dam Road near Coal Creek Canyon.
Police issued homeowner Kay Simmons a summons for dangerous dogs and dogs at large.
"We have at least 11 prior violations at this residence regarding these animals, which causes a great concern because we're not seeing a change in behavior," Kelley said.
Police had been called by neighbors complaining of the dogs.
"They're a pack mentality, they're a wolf hybrid," said neighbor Beth Hutchins. "I just don't know what extent they'll go. If they'll go after a 118-pound dog, what's going to keep them from my 35-pound child."
The county says it will recommend Simmons be barred from owning dogs.
