Volunteers Build Ramp For Wheelchair Bound Veteran

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) ― Volunteers and a local construction company helped a young veteran renovate his home this weekend so he can enjoy the outdoors this summer.

Eric Raley served 7 years in the Air Force. He was severely injured when a drunk driver hit him while he was crossing a street in 2006. He suffered a brain injury, was paralyzed and is confined to a wheelchair.

Raley moved in with his parents Saturday.

A construction company put in a deck and a ramp for him.

"That means real life," Raley said. "Instead of living life behind the chair, I'm living life in front of it."

Home Depot donated the building materials.

Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling did all the work.
