Wreckage Of Plane Found, Pilot's Body Recovered
VAIL, Colo. (CBS4/AP) ―
The body of a pilot from Utah has been recovered from a single-engine plane that crashed in the mountains near Vail.
The Colorado Civil Air Patrol says 51-year-old Michael Loveless of Price, Utah, was alone on board when his Cessna 182 crashed yesterday in the Holy Cross Wilderness in Eagle County.
Civil Air Patrol spokeswoman 2nd Lt. Tricia Sargent says crews worked through the night and teams that included staff from area sheriff's departments searched by ground in steep, snowy terrain today.
Eagle County sheriff's officials say a National Guard helicopter crew spotted the plane and deemed the crash unsurvivable.
Sargent said Loveless' plane departed the Denver area yesterday and was headed to Utah.
