Colorado Rep. Mark Udall took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention Thursday with words that would be a preview to what Barack Obama would say just hours later.
"This election is not about Barack Obama, Joe Biden or me, it's about you," he said to a packed Invesco Field at Mile High. "It's about your family, your dreams, your future."
Later, Obama would say the similar phrase, "What the nay-sayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's been about you."
He told the crowd how his father, Moe Udall, spoke to the Democratic National Convention 32 years ago.
Udall said the change Americans need in Washington starts in the Rocky Mountain West.
"We look to our mountains and prairies, our wide-open skies, and we see the limitless possibility that is America," Udall said. "We look to the grit and determination of those who came before us, we know, by their example, that there's no problem we can't solve if we stick together."
Udall ended his speech praising Obama and vice presidential candidate Joseph Biden, who he mentioned worked with his father.
