'Twestival' Draws Hundreds In Littleton

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) ― What do you call a party for fans of Twitter? How about a "Twestival"?

Hundreds of users of the micro-blogging site gathered at Fox & Hound on E. Arapahoe Road in Littleton Thursday night to raise money for clean water in developing countries. The organization -- called Charity Water -- builds wells.

On Twitter people only post their status updates in 140 characters or less. Those posts, called tweets, are seen by the person's online network on the site.

Several users were busy at the Twestival posting tweets and interacting with other Twitter users many hadn't met in person before.

In one tweet Amy Peck -- who goes by the username "fruitlady" -- wrote "Listening to Tsegaye Hailu talking about the need for clean water in Ethiopia. Trying not to cry @ #twestival."

CBS4 sent a news crew to shoot video of the event. Soon after Denise Smith of Denver, who goes by "Deetells" on Twitter, wrote "Having fun at twestival Denver and being filmed!!! Stage fright!!!!"

Twitter.com is a bit different from other social networking sites. There isn't a place to post a lengthy description about yourself or share lots of photos in albums like on other sites.
