Ft. Collins Man Fights For New Murder Trial
Tim Masters Claims Police Overlooked Other Suspect
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) ―
A man sentenced to life in prison is fighting for a new trial on Monday.
Attorneys for Tim Masters have claimed Fort Collins police overlooked a strong suspect in the 1987 murder of Peggy Hettrick.
Masters was 15-years-old when Hettrick was stabbed to death. Masters was convicted of first-degree murder for her death in 1999.
According to his attorneys, a jury convicted him despite a lack of physical evidence.
A hearing to determine a new trial is expected to take at least 4 days.
