Colorado Attorney General John Suthers plans to make an announcement Thursday regarding the state's 25-year-old lawsuit for environmental damages at Rocky Mountain Arsenal.
During World War II, the Army manufactured chemical weapons at the 27-square-mile site northeast of Denver. Shell Oil Co. leased part of the land and produced chemicals including pesticides there until 1982.
In 1983, the state sued the Army and Shell in a lawsuit alleging damage to Colorado's natural resources.
The arsenal became a Superfund site in 1987. After years of cleanup work, part of the arsenal has been turned into a national wildlife refuge.
