Postal Workers Hold 'Stamp Out Hunger' Food Drive
DENVER (AP) ―
The annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive took place Saturday.
Postal workers picked up canned and non-perishable food donations while they delivered the mail.
There are estimates that 35 million people across the country are already or are close to going hungry right now.
"Last year, between the Denver and Aurora branches we got about 580,000 of food in the Denver area," Dawn Wallace with the National Association of Letter Carriers said. "We're hoping to definitely pass that because the need is so much greater this year."
Donations will stay in Colorado and will be donated to area food banks.
