Invesco Speech Tickets Distribution This Weekend
Recipients To Be Notified Thursday, Friday
DENVER (CBS4) ―
Barack Obama's campaign said Wednesday people who have been selected to receive community credential tickets to the Democratic candidate's speech at Invesco Field on the final night of the party convention will be notified starting Thursday and going through Friday.
Those selected will be getting a text message, email or phone call. People who have not received credentials but have requested them will be notified that they are on a waiting list.
Those who have received credentials should pick them up this weekend at a Obama Campaign office or at one of the other locations listed below.
Everyone picking up a credential is required to bring a photo ID. Community members will receive specific instructions on security and access procedures at Invesco when they pick up their credential.
The campaign said that while some Coloradans have chosen to volunteer time to the Obama team, volunteering is not a requirement to get a community credential.
People who applied for an "All-Star" seat to the speech were encouraged to do 6 hours of volunteering with the campaign to "guarantee" those seats.
"The message did use the world guarantee," said Patrick Priest, an Obama supporter who did 12 hours for two tickets. "Some of the volunteers there did use that and so I'll be disappointed if I don't get a ticket, but I understand a lot of people want to go."
Marie Davis came from California to volunteer in Colorado this week in hopes of getting a ticket.
"I want to be a part of this great history that's taking place," Davis said.
Officials said people who want "All-Star" seating but don't finish their hours or don't volunteer at all don't necessarily lose out. They still have a chance at getting tickets.
