Coroner: Snowboarder Suffered Internal Bleeding
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) ―
Coroner's officials said a snowboarder who died after jumping off a cliff in the backcountry during a film shoot died of internal bleeding.
Pitkin County Deputy Coroner Chuck Johnson says Wallace Westfeldt, 22, also suffered broken bones in the fall Friday near the Aspen Highlands ski area and died at the scene.
He said at least one witness reported that Westfeldt landed on his back on firm snow.
At least 20 people have died from skiing or snowboarding accidents in Colorado this season, including three who were in the backcountry.
