Police Release Adams Co. Prosecutor Slaying Sketch

DENVER (CBS4) ― Denver police on Wednesday released new details about their investigation into the still-unsolved August 2008 murder of Adams County prosecutor Sean May.

Officials are once again asking the public for help in the case, which will be placed in the public spotlight this weekend when it appears on a new episode of the TV show "America's Most Wanted."

On Wednesday officers released two sketches of a young man they say may be a suspect in the slaying. The man has a goatee in one sketch and no facial hair in the other.

They also shared surveillance images of two men who were at a 7-Eleven near where the shooting happened and who may be of help to the investigation.

"They may be witnesses unknowingly," said Assistant Chief David Fisher. "They are not suspects. We have done a tremendous amount of work over the past 15 months and we've reached a point where now we want to put these out publicly. We've obviously attempted to find them, to identify them, but it has been to no avail."

The slaying outside May's northwest Denver home during the Democratic National Convention shook up the local legal community. May, 37, was shot on the head and abdomen as he returned from work. Police say the killer may have been waiting for him at the home.

It's unclear if May was murdered as a result of his job. He was Adams County's chief deputy prosecutor at the time of his death.

Police say the case has gotten little attention because it occurred at the height of the convention.

A $125,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect has gone unclaimed so far in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
