Teachers work out a preparedness letter scramble.

Pleasant View Elementary School students are getting a treat. Disney Radio is in the house. They've brought fun, games, and a lesson in being prepared.
"We think kids can be empowered with knowledge that they can make a difference in a disaster," said Cathy Prudhomme, Community Preparedness Program Manager for the Governor's Office of Homeland Security.
The whole program is sponsored by Ready Colorado, a public and private partnership dedicated to helping Coloradans be prepared in the case of disaster. They're starting by teaching the youngest Coloradans what to do in the face of disaster.
"The importance of always being prepared in a disaster, knowing what to do and making sure that they have a plan with their family," Prudhomme told CBS4.
The homework from this lesson is to take the information home.
"And kind of put that pressure on mom and dad about, 'We need a plan. We need a kit. We need to be ready,'" Prudhomme added.
Ready Colorado hopes that the 45 minutes they spend here will last a lifetime. They hope that this is a lesson that one day
these children will teach to their children.
"It's important to be prepared because you might get separated from your family one day or a natural disaster might happen to your home," said Autumn Lucas, 11, a 6th grader at Pleasant View Elementary School.
