2 CU Football Players Arrested, Separate Incidents

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) ― A University of Colorado football player was arrested after a fight outside a party Friday night.

Riar Geer was arrested just before midnight. He was jailed on suspicion of second-degree assault and harassment.

CU police said Geer got into a verbal dispute with two men that turned violent.

Both victims suffered minor injuries.

Geer is the second CU player arrested in recent days. Lynn Katoa turned him self into police Friday. He was wanted in connection with a fight at an apartment building in February. Police said Katoa assaulted two men at an off-campus party. Head Coach Dan Hawkins is allowing Katoa to practice while the case is resolved.

"It's unfortunate we've had these instances back-to-back, and once again, I do not condone our players engaging in this kind of conduct. We will continue to engage them through several orientations and presentations on how to be first class in every phase of their lives," Dan Hawkins said in a prepared statement. "Riar has been suspended immediately from everything football related, including practice, until the legal system and CU's office of judicial affairs have completed their processes."

Riar is a third-year sophomore tight end from Grand Junction.
