A group of friends including a 2-year-old boy spent two cold nights stuck in the Rampart Range area of Douglas County after their four-wheel Ford Bronco drove into a ditch.
Members of the group hiked for help Sunday and their trail was found by rescue teams that helped recover the rest of the group.
"We found a place where they put arrows in the snow and a baby cup and a few other things that got us on the right trail," said Bruce Fosdic, a member of the search team.
Ray Walters and four friends, including the young boy, couldn't call for help because there was no cell phone service in the area.
"We had food and stuff but we didn't have sleeping bags," Walters said. "It got really cold."
Walters said they started a fire to stay warm and stayed close to the stranded SUV.
"My dad taught me a lot to survive in the wilderness, so I wasn't scared," he said. "I knew if we ran out of food and water I knew ways to get hydrated and fed."
