DENVER (CBS4) ― Heavy rain fell in many spots across the Denver metro area Thursday afternoon before some late afternoon clearing took place.

Highs were in the mid 60s as scattered Spring thunderstorms passed through the region.

Officially, only .16 inches of rain fell at Denver International Airport, but some spots in the Denver region registered a half inch to an inch of rain in the early afternoon.

The skies were expected to be partly cloudy overnight with a slight chance of storms and lows around 40.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny with highs around 70 and dry conditions.

A cold front moves in Friday night, so Saturday will have highs in the low to mid 50s and there will be a 30 percent chance of rain throughout most of the day.

The rain moves out Sunday for Mother's Day with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s.
