A woman was attacked in her own front yard by two pit bulls in Evans on Saturday.
Police were called to a neighborhood in Evans on reports of the dogs running loose and an officer was there with the woman was attacked.
Officer Michael Yates pulled up to a house in the neighborhood just in time to see the dogs attack.
Angela Mountain, 29, had stepped into her front yard with her two dogs just as Yates pulled up. The pit bulls bit Mountain three times in the leg before Yates was able to intervene.
"As she was on the ground she was yelling, 'Help me, help me,'" Yates said. "Later, after the incident, she didn't even realize I was a police officer. She was pretty frightened, but she seemed to be a pretty strong woman and she got medical attention and she's doing good right now."
Yates used a taser on one of the dogs and other officers were able to tranquilize the other.
Neither of the dogs had tags and police aren't sure if they are strays.
Mountain received several stitches and is now back home.
