Teen Pleads Guilty In Deadly Lakewood Crash

Liquor Store Clerk Also Pleads Guilty In Case

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) ― A teenager who was accused of driving the wrong way in Lakewood last March and killing a passenger in another car pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. A liquor store clerk accused of selling alcohol to the teenage driver's friends also pleaded guilty Wednesday morning.

Nanette LaFleur, 17, was driving drunk and crossed the median on Green Mountain into oncoming traffic last year in Lakewood. Samara Stricklen, 17, died in the head-on collision. Her friend Seth Mutschler was seriously injured.

"Daily, we're still grieving," said Bill Stricklen, Samara's father, through a sign language interpreter. "We still miss our daughter, every time I think about our daughter. She was supposed to be graduating this month. It is very difficult."

Bill Stricklen said Samara will be given an honorary degree by Bear Creek High School at graduation.

LaFleur's plea deal calls for her to serve 4 years in youth offender services even though she pleaded guilty to adult charges. Failure to comply with the program could result in her serving a sentence in the Department of Corrections. The length of that possible term will be decided on July 9.

LaFleur will likely receive a GED through the youth offender program.

Van Thien Pham, the liquor store clerk, was in court earlier in the morning and admitted to 10 counts of providing alcohol to a minor, all misdemeanors. Each count carries a potential jail sentence of up to 18 months and a fine of up to $5,000.

Pham's sentencing was set for July 2.
